The South Carolina and North Carolina Planned Giving Councils have put together such a conference in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina at the Kanuga Conference Center.
The Annual Planned Giving Conference at Kanuga
The North Carolina and South Carolina Planned Giving Councils invite you join us on May 1-2, 2018 at the Kanuga Conference Center, Hendersonville NC.
Goals of the Conference: This conference is a quality continuing education opportunity for development professionals to expand their planned giving knowledge, learn new skills they can apply in their organizations, and network with peers and industry leaders to share ideas, information and solutions.
Our Speakers Speak Up
“Over the last several years, the idea of “donor-centered philanthropy” has re-emerged as a core value of gift planning work. Using this methodology, gift planners look to discover the long-term goals and objectives of their donors and put those needs first, instead of pushing their own agenda. The Annual Planned Giving Conference at Kanuga applies this methodology to conferences. Instead of a standard configuration designed to maximize profits for a large hotel chain, Kanuga is a retreat center, focused on creating a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere for gift planners to interact with speakers and one another to grow in their knowledge of the field. I spent two wonderful days at Kanuga, enjoying the tranquility of the surroundings while interacting with some of the most engaged and interested gift planners I have come across. It was a wonderful reminder of everything a conference could be, instead of what so many of them have become. I can’t wait to go back.”
– Brian M. Sagrestano, JD, CFRE (2009 Kanuga Keynote Speaker), President and CEO, Gift Planning Development, LLC
“Kanuga is unlike any other conference experience I’ll ever have… the facility nestled in beautiful, forested grounds with a lake and lodge, cabins each with a screened-in porch for socializing and reading, enjoyable walking trails, communal meals. But the highlight has to be the people, interested and interesting, committed to being there to learn and talk more about their craft, as warm and welcoming as any group could ever be. I will treasure the experience forever and, like every previous Kanuga presenter, will immediately ask to be put on the ‘future return’ list.”
– Pam Davidson (2008 Kanuga Keynote Speaker)
“Kanuga was one of the most unique idyllic sites I’ve been to. When was the last time you had cocktails on a deck overlooking a lake with honking geese flying by in formation? Mostly I do presentations in corporate venues and assembly-line hotels. Being at Kanuga was a welcome and refreshing break from the mold. If you have the chance to attend a workshop at Kanuga with the South Carolina Planned Giving Council, you will not be disappointed with the hospitality, the food, nor the spectacular pristine beauty of this wonderful place.”
-Debra Ashton (2007 and 2016 Keynote Speaker)
“The South Carolina Planned Giving Council knows how to have a conference – they head to North Carolina to Kanuga! Why conduct your education and network with colleagues in Ballroom B when you could head to the dock on the lake in the mountains? No parking decks, no suits, and no tipping. Just top speakers, colleagues, jeans, sneakers, crickets, and assorted woodland creatures. Put this one on your calendar!”
